If you’re coming to Dragon*Con, make sure you fly in a day early so you can attend a special event in honor of the International Year of Astronomy. The Atlanta Skeptics are planning a star gazing party, hosted by none other than Phil Plait and Pamela Gay. We’ll have drinks, dinner, and of course, some star gazing once the sun goes down.
I really hope you can join us. This event is in honor of our friend and fellow skeptic, Jeff Medkeff. We were all devastated when Jeff lost his battle with liver cancer last year and proceeds from this event will go to the American Cancer Society.
It will also be a rocking good time. In addition to Phil and Pamela, we have a bunch of skeptics who have already signed up to attend. Brian Thompson from Amateur Scientist, Richard Saunders and Rachel Dunlop from The Skeptic Zone, plus Skepchicks Rebecca Watson, ARealGirl, MasalaSkeptic and Carr2d2 will all be there.
Tickets are limited and will sell out. So head over to the Atlanta Skeptics site to buy tickets now! See you, and the stars, there!

All of the Dragon*Con host hotels (Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, and Sheraton) are sold out for the 2009 show! There are still rooms available at the Westin, so you need to act fast if you want to secure accommodations for this year’s show.
You can also visit the link below for information on Overflow Hotels.

Well, just couple days ago me and Swoopy got to go to the first Dragon*Con Directors Meeting for 2009! It is always a fun time to go back and see all the people who make the convention happen after such a long break. It NEVER feels like it was actually five months since we last saw everyone there!
So, we are now in the first stages of planning and finding guests for this year. Many of the big names from last year will be back for Skeptrack 09′. James Randi, Phil Plait, Ben Radford, Richard Saunders, and even some new faces; Daniel Loxton and Margaret Downey, just to name a couple!
Currently all the main four hotels are booked out of convention-rate rooms, but there are some rooms left in hotels quite close to the Hilton, (the Skeptrack Hotel).
Try the Downtown Atlanta Westin Hotel, it is quite close and usually has rooms at this time of the year. (It is June 13th as I post this update).
